Today we are going to have a double unboxing review. We decided to open up the Robot Damashii Nu Gundam and the RD Full Expansion Set (Bandai online shop exclusive item sold separately) so we could see what are the benefits of buying the Full Extension Set. This set here is the first Robot Damashii that we ever bought. The reason behind why we bought them is because this is the only set we know of that could replicate the Pyramid Shield Defense of the Nu Gundam. Sure you could scratch build it, but SB-ing is a something we don’t have time to do. So simply put, if you want to have a nice Pyramid Shielding Nu Gundam in your cabinet without effort then by all means get this set. Being our first RD, we do not have basis with regards to quality. But we do not have any complaints about the figure overall. A 9.5 out of 10 rating would suffice.

BOXES
The Nu Gundam Full Expansion Set came in with the shipping box still intact
So inside the box is that pinkish big box
It would be sad to have the Full Expansion Set but not having the Nu Gundam itself.
So I consider these two a combo.

NU GUNDAM
These are the contents of the plastic shell
I almost missed out this small plastic since it was located at the back of box
contained inside that plastic pack are the funnel effects and the manual
Nu Gundam manual
presenting Nu Gundam
some of the accessories:
shield
Bazooka
beam rifle
3 extra pair of hands plus the 1 pair from the MS
the clear plastic rods which happened to be a ball joint system
the six funnels included in the set
Pictures of the kit with some of the gears equipped
some paint bulges
more random pics
Now let us try using the other effects parts
** note** – I really had a hard time trying to assemble the ball joints. Putting the balls into the socket needed a little biting which I learned after minutes of trying to put it by hand.

FULL EXPANSION SET
all of the contents of the plastic shell
as you can see, you get to have an extra set of funnels, effects and clear rods
afaik, you will get these three on the fin-funnel-only set
aside from the similar items, we do have some new accessories
a new shield with an entirely different design
looks familiar? remember Hi-Nu’s funnel bay?
an extra shoulder armor with additonial details
a different beam rifle
extra hand holding Char’s Cockpit from the Sazabi as seen on the epic battle of Nu and Sazabi
pyramid corner effects:
top most
for the four lower corners
The pyramid walls. Note that they are covered with a plastic film to prevent scratches
stand parts

because we have additional funnels we can now do the funnel wings
But if you want, you could also make Nu into a Hi-Nu by using the funnel bay provided
This is how the stand looks like when built (about 11 inches high)
Gotta catch them all! (eeerr wrong series pal!)
Test fitting the pyramid:
– it was really simple, you just need to fold the clear plastic and form that pyramid shape
then attach 5 funnels into the burst effects
TADA!
– I wish it was as simple as that
– I had a hard time attaching the four lower corner burst effects
– It took me 5 minutes to figure out how to place them, because the manual was not really helpful at all
Testing: still has the plastic cover so it looks cloudy

SIZE COMPARISON
against SD RF Astray
against HG 1/144 Age-1 normal
– Robot Damashii figures are close to 144 kit sizes. Though Nu Gundam is way taller than your regular RD figure
against MG 1/100 Wing Gundam
