We are happy to present the unboxing and out of the box build review of the HG 1/144 Gundam RX-72-2 G30th ANA version. For those who do not know about ANA you can check this post for more info. This ANA RX-78-2 Gundam is the first kit that we have built among the ANA series. And I must say that it was all worth the fuzz. It is indeed a beautiful kit. Joints were super tight (maybe because of the paint), chrome-like finish is top notch, nub marks are not really noticeable and decals are nicely thought of (meaning advertising of ANA did not get in the way of the kit). Giving it a 10/10 score! ^_^

BOX ART
-the front of the box has a digitally manipulated image of the actual ANA RX-78-2 Gundam
-the scene reminds you of an airplane flying in the clouds (because ANA is an airline company)

UNBOXING
HANDLING
I think it is a nice idea to have some cloth gloves around when handling kits like this…
You will never know how far the damage of the acid on our sweat will do on the kit’s special coating. You will not see it now, but as time passes by, those acids will eventually eat and ruin the coating…
Better safe than sorry 🙂
Gloves like the one below costs only around 50 pesos a pair at your nearest department store
Tree/Runners
-there are about 6 runners
-each color set is packed separately to avoid scratching
natural panels lines caused by the chrome-white combo
Stickers
-semi-stretchable plastic stickers
-foil stickers
1 chain for the Gundam hammer
Marking guide
Manual
-one very long sheet folded into pages
NUB MARKS
When we were removing the parts from the runners, we noticed that just cutting them with the TAMIYA sidecutter was already enough.
The results are the same when we tried to do the sidecutter-hobbyknife combo vs the sidecutter only approach.
So we just decided to use the sidecutter only method all the way
You will hardly notice the nub marks after you build the whole kit
TORSO
nothing new…except the very shiny blue part! hahah
HEAD
comes will natural panels hahaha!
ARMS
super tight!!! as in super tight joints!!! perhaps because of the increase in volume due to the chrome paint
LEGS
same comment as the arms… super tight joints as well…
afraid to move it because we might scratch the paint
Err.. whats up doc?
