Last Saturday I was able to finish the first season of Gundam 00 (daburo as the Japs pronounce it). My overall comment – GREAT!!!. Would have been excellent if not for the lack of “awesomeness” of the characters as some may call it.
Although it seems that the characters have really stupid issues with themselves and how they act, I really cannot complain much. Because most of the pilots of Gundams share this kind of weird personality (yeah they do!) . I really wished that the characters in Gundam 00 were as skilled in fighting as those in the Wing Gundam series.
But in the bright side, I think this series is well balanced in terms of the plot, characters, setting and phasing. The difference in power the Gundam showed in the first few episodes until to the part wherein the enemies where able to create better units and overpower the Gundams themselves simply makes sense. If ever the story where to happen in real life, I’d expect the flow to be actually like that. No God-like unit exists IMHO, pilots are just human (though the Kyrios pilot Allelujah was a super soldier). Like the part in Gundam 00 where their 4 Gundams faced around 900 enemy units, obviously they should lose the battle and they did (but escaped with help of course).
Anyway, I suffered last song syndrome (LSS) on the first opening song titled Daybreak’s Bell sung by L’Arc~en~Ciel. Well most of you may know that already, but in case you don’t here is a video of the song and the band.
