We have here an out of the box build review of 1/60 scale Gundam F91. This model kit is partly built. Meaning majority of the body has been pre-built such as the arms, legs, torso frame and head frame. Don’t be mistaken though, there is still a lot to be built considering that you have some pre-built parts. Also, there is one gimmick on the legs that we will discuss later. I really loved building this kit especially that very sexy back! Took me around 3 hours to complete since I really made sure that the nubs were properly remove. It is a fine addition to your big scale collection but is quite hard to find one nowadays since it is out of production. I rate this kit 8/10 due to some articulation issues.

Originally planned as a full-length television series, Gundam F91 hit a production snag due to staff disputes, and the project was stopped after the screenplays for the first thirteen episodes were written. It was then decided that what was made of the show would be condensed into a theatrical feature film. Condensing a story originally intended to be told over the course of fifty half-hour episodes into less than two hours of screen time required much of the original story to be cut.
The story of Gundam F91 revolves around teenage space colonist Seabook Arno, his girlfriend Cecily Fairchild, and the efforts of the Crossbone Vanguard militia, led by Cecily’s grandfather Meitzer Ronah, to establish an aristocracy known as “Cosmo Babylonia”. In keeping with Gundam tradition, the civilian Seabook is forced by circumstance to pilot the F91 Gundam F91, coincidentally designed in part by his estranged mother, Dr. Monica Arno.

BOX ART
it says 15.2 meters tall… they have small gundams in their era.
back
255mm tall or roughly 10 inches
6000 yen?
top
bottom
UNBOXING
box can be opened on sides
it will reveal two containers (one carton and one styrofoam)
in the styro case you have the pre-built parts and some individually molded parts
closer look
the carton box houses the manual and the runners
manual
RUNNERS
extra paper
plastic sticker sheet
almost forgot the size comparison of the box to a 1/144 kit
Now lets begin to check and build the parts!!!
We start by checking the parts from the styro case
this is the pre-built head armor
left and right arms are pre-built as well
take note that only the left arm is capable of holding the shield accessory
a close up look on the hands
the head frame, torso frame and the legs are already pre-built.
first item to build is the torso armor which I though was the shoulder pieces at first
this one is the collar armor
this is how it looks like attached (hey is that the terminator? asta lavista baby!)
now we will combine the torso armor
next are the pegs for the arms
but before placing the pegs, you should place first the part below that will hold the V.S.B.R (Variable Speed Beam Rifle)
then after that, you will then connect another armor piece
next are some lovely booster exhaust which goes to the back area
the waist has a slot where you can hook the Beam Launcher
Looking good so far
Shoulder armors with their radiation fins
what I loved about this kit is that some of the part designs are directly injected or molded together like the F and 91 details below
So here they are when combined. You have the option to retract the radiation fins if you like to hide them from view)
just a little more terminator
This is the leg gimmick that I was talking about earlier
You just need to press the whole leg section towards the foot and viola! – the fins will automatically open up! Cool trick IMHO… nice application of spring action design.
Ooooohh.. SEXY BACK!!!
the beam shield is huge… a pretty big green plastic…
you are given two of these, one you can use without the beam shield and the other with the shield of course.
it goes to the left arm are mentioned earlier
side skirts have storage allotments inside them
the right one stores the extra shield holder
the left one stores the beam saber hilts
side skirts when attached
the head unit consists mainly of 3 parts – the armor, the frame and the mask
looks like a transformer without the mask
mohawk dude!!!
place the mask first before putting the frame inside the armor
head unit complete
char zeong: so how are we holding up bro!?
V.S.B.R (Variable Speed Beam Rifle) is the one attach on his back
VSBR when attached
Beam Launcher – think of it as a bazooka since it looks like one as well
Beam Rifle
this part connects the Beam launcher to the waist
The story of Gundam F91 revolves around teenage space colonist Seabook Arno, his girlfriend Cecily Fairchild
All of the accessories

What a nice and big Gundam! I have a 1/100 scale “F90Y Cluster Gundam”, does it have a relation with F91? (T_T)

Yes F90 is the manga series that takes place prior to F91. F91 is then followed by the Silhouette F91 manga and Crossbone.

I just got this, and im having a terrible time with his head unit. I can’t get it to fit securely. Feels very loose. And the back of the helmet touches back pack unit. Any suggestions?

if you are familiar with blu-tack you can use it to secure the loose joint. Just put some blu-tack on the ball joint then put the head back.
