The latest news is that Bandai is going to build a 20 foot / 6 meter tall Gundam RX-78-2 statue at the 8thChina International Animation, Cartoon and Game Fair, a major animation event to be held from July 12-16 in Shanghai China. The Chinese version of RX-78-2 Gundam will have a unique exterior which was designed by Beijing Yankai Cultural Development Co., Ltd. Not only that, an MG 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver. 2.0 China Special Versionpriced at 420 yuan (2758 php) will be sold exclusively for Chinese customers. It seems that the establishment of a Bandai group in China signals the start of Bandai’s move to counter bootleggers or piracy of Gundam in China. Well, there is the saying that you keep friends close and your enemies closer. I think Bandai is now closer to the source of their problem now. This is like Bright’s bitch slap move by Bandai to declare to the people that “Hey China, this is the legit version of the Gundam you all know about… stop taking the money which is rightfully ours!” — LOL
It is already next week! The 11th Philippine Toy Convention is just around the corner. The toy convention will last from June 15 up to June 17, 2012. Venue will be at SM Megatrade Halls 1, 2 and 3 which is located at 5th level of SM Megamall building B. Entrance fee per day is 100php. I am pretty sure that there will be a lot of Gundam kits that can be found there since there are about 180 booths/stores participating this year. This might be the biggest ToyCon event in the Philippines so far.
There will be an exclusive movie screening of Gundam Unicorn Episode 5 (The Black Unicorn) at SM North EDSA Cinema 5 this coming May 27, 2012 (which is a Sunday) starting 10am up to 1pm ONLY. Also included in the movie screening is Gundam Unicorn Episode 4 (At the Bottom of the Gravity Well). This will be some get together event for Gundam Fans here in the Philippines! Now the question is how to get a ticket? So far there are two ways to get some movie passes.
Posting this one here since we are toy collectors after all. A co-member of a Gundam group I belong to namely Wilonah Chan (she is a cosplayer afaik) is hosting a charity event called “Give A Toy (2x) Open Photoshoot & Toy Collection” which will take place on April 21, 2012 (sat) at Ninoy Aquino Parks & Wildlife located at Quezon City Circle. Beneficiary is the Marco Polo Children Center (hope I got that right). There will be no fees to pay, just your TOY DONATION is enough. This is open to all cosplayers and photographers out there.
Perhaps most of you already know about this, but just to be sure, I am posting it now. There will be a Gundam Caravan Building & Detailing Contest at SM Megamall starting tomorrow up to Sunday. That is 3 days from April 13 up to April 15, 2012. This is in conjunction with the Ozine Fest 2012 that is going to be held at Megatrade Hall 1 & 2. Events starts at 10:00 am up to 7:00 pm. Expect lots of people to be there even though it is Friday since it is summer vacation and students have no classes. ^_^
Details for the upcoming 2012 GUNDAM MODEL KIT CONTEST has been announced. The official venue for this contest will be at the Atrium of SM North Edsa The Block. Winners for Junior and Open Category will get a chance to represent our country in the 2012 GUNPLA EXPO in SINGAPORE with free round trip ticket and hotel accommodation! For those interested to join, entry forms are available at Toykingdom SM North Edsa (and other Toykingdom and Toy Express Branches) and at Ban Kee Trading Inc. website (bankee.com.ph). Confirmation of participation will be from April 17 to May 17, 2012. Submission of entries will be at May 19, 2012 (maximum of 3 entries per participant). Club-Gunpla – Bandai South Asia will be having a Gundam Building and Detailing Contest tomorrow (Saturday) at Robinsons Place Manila starting 10:00am until 9:30pm. I think this event is an effort by Bankee Philippines to simultaneously hold the event on different Robinsons Mall (IMHO). Go and experience either the Gundam Building & Detailing (for 13 yrs old above) or the Gundam Caravan (for 7-12 yrs old). Or you could just enjoy the Gundam exhibit that they will have.

We are really happy to share our blessing for today! We finally decided to get a DSLR camera to help us on our Gundam reviews. Now you can expect to see better quality photos than before. For those of you who does not know, we are using only our cellphone to take photos when reviewing a kit. It has been that way since we started GUNDAMPH. But I guess it is time to take the reviewing stuff more seriously since we are getting more readers. Hope you guys will continue supporting GPH! ^_^
For all of our friends out there in Marikina, SM City Marikina will be having a Gundam Caravan and Gundam Building and Detailing Contest this coming February 18-19, 2012. There will also be a Gundam Exhibit and Gundam Film Showing. It will be on the 2nd floor of SM City Marikina. So mark this on you calendars. It is only a few days wait. ^_^
