We have here an unboxing and straight build review of the Kotobukiya 1/144 scale DYGENGUAR! It was released December 2008 and I believe some online stores still sell this kit. Several words comes into mind upon seeing the size of its box and the size of the finished kit as well. Words such as behemoth, huge, gigantic, awesome and manly are some of the appropriate one-liners you can say upon seeing this 1/144 scale kit. We literally fell in love with Dygenguar even though we barely know the background story. All we know is that Dygenguar is part of the Super Robot Wars series “Dynamic General Guardian” (basically the longer version of the name Dygenguar). We really love this kit that is why we gave it a 10/10 rating. A must have for those collecting SRW model kits!

DyGenGuar Weapons: Dynamic Knuckle, General Blaster, and Guardian SWord.
Daizengar Weapons: Zankantou: Denkousekka, Zankantou: Daisharin, Zankantou: Raikou Giri, and Zankantou: Unyou no Tachi. It’s the first machine in the Double G series, created by Bian Zoldark, for the Earth Cradle’s defense forces. It was created as Zengar’s personal machine, and he is the only one capable of piloting it.
Its original weapons are unusable due to it getting damaged during its initial launch. Zengar instead uses the Grungust Type-3’s Zankantou for its primary attacks. Originally, the unit was supposed to be equipped with a G-Impact Stake and Neo Chakram Shooter, too.
It moves by tracing the movement detected from the DML, allowing the pilot to move it however he wants.

BUILDING the “ARMORED WAR GOD DYGENGUAR”
***
-SHOULDERS-
-beginners will find the shoulder to be quite a tricky build
-I spent 30 minutes on the red part alone
-it houses the 3 LED light each shoulder (6 total)
-each shoulder has a provision to place 2 LR44 batteries (total 4)
-the biggest mecha shoulder I have built so far
-look at that, made a horse out of it… hiyaaaah! gidiyapp!
-exploded view
-ARMS-
-the elbows has 3 boosters each – wow!
– reminds me of a fish
– there is one part that was hard to put, kotobukiya kits are known for their peculiar approach in placing certain parts or pieces
-this is the part that was hard to put in place
-boosters…nice!
-HEAD-
– provided are 3 different set of faces to suite your expression needs
– very simple and straight forward
-LEGS-
– very huge legs
– no strong inner structure but the construction is very rigid (feels solid)
-no rubber polycaps, just the ratcheted plastic caps
-shin guards
-ankle guards
-feet
– the mesh like material is part of the heels
-final piece
– TORSO –
– the torso contains another electronic piece namely the sounds which when press plays a recording of Sangar shouting several phrases
– has a provision to place 2 LR44 batteries
– the red clear parts are buttons for the recording
– when attached with other parts
– WAIST –
– a really big and pointy waist
– the two pointed skirts are deadly against children haha!
– the front skirts remind me of Shin Musha Gundam
– the rear skirt is non-moving piece with 3 vernier or boosters underneath
– ZANKANTOU – the big awesome version!
(i think the two forms are both zankantou but I am not sure what each one is called)
– look at the size of that, looks like a giant kitchen knife
– ZANKANTOU – small version
– side by side with the small version
