How did my GUNDAM hobby start?

I bought my first gundam model kit last year (2010) around the month of May. Red Frame Astray was my first kit. Confused pa nga ako between Shin Musha (with stage) and Astray. But in the end nakuha ko rin si Musha nung talagang ADDICTED na ako sa gundam.

Here is the picture of my Red Frame Astray nung araw na mabuo ko sya. I took 2 days to build it since takot ako masira. First time eh.

Nag decide na ako tumigil nun kasi mahal. Then nung birthday ko last November niregaluhan ako ni GF ng MG Full Burst Mode Strike Freedom.

Then the rest is history. Before the end of December 2010, i have more than 10 gundam kits, 2 of them are PG namely Wing Zero and RX-178 Titan MkII.

 

Ngayon sa dami ng gundam ko, di ko pa nabubuo ung iba… Tapos sige pa rin ako order lalo na pag mura or may sale.

    Nag plan ako mag gunpla collection during higschool.. sabi ko pag steady na ang income ko once na may work na ako.. dun ako mag stastart mag collect…

    During my college days, napadaan ako saka yung girlfriend ko sa mall.. may nkita akong naka display na gunpla sa isang toy store.. MG Wing Zero Custom hahaha. sobrang napormahan ako so I decided to start gunpla collecting.. nag save ako ng money from may baon, kasi nga wla pang income, and bought my very first gunpla which is,… tada! MG Wing Zero Custom :)..

    And the rest, as they say, is history 🙂

      4. Actually GO for the SF because the PG 00 Raiser weapons are not complete the GN swords so I’ll rather go for the SF than the 00 Raiser even if the SF is more expensive than the 00 Raiser but it’s worth it

  2. Hehe ako nagstart mag-collect (read: magmakaawa at magpabili sa daddy) noong elementary dahil sa Gundam Wing at G Gundam na series. Ang complex kasi ng storylines compared sa Transformers, etc. Nabili ko lang sila 1/144 na Wing Gundam, Heavyarms, Shining at God Gundam. Tapos nun natigil na kasi di kaya ng budget haha.

    At eto ako ngayon, may work na, at pilit na bumabawi sa younger self ko. Sa wakas meron na ako nung HG 1/100 na Heavyarms Custom 🙂

  3. Ako 15 MG kits kaso tumigil nako since last year. Planning on buying the latest MG’s namely – 00, 00 Qan-T, Wing, Deathscythe, Epyon and Shenlong.

  4. ako gundam fans na tlga..mula bata pa. pero di aq makabili ng gunpla kasi mahal.. wala pa ako stable na income…

    one day nung day off pumunta ako sa sm then nakakita ako ng gunpla naka display.. then nag try ako ng isa.. yung speed grade na strike freedom.. nung na buo ko na na disapoint ako kasi hinde accurate.. wala pa akong alam nung sa mga grade ehh…. kaya hinde ako bumili

    then nung bumalik ako nakita ko hg1/100 na wing zero custum.. malaki yung box kaya naisip ko na siguro maganda na to kasi malaki yung box.. at nagustuhan ko naman.. at dun na ako naadik haha..

    na stop ako nung nag trabaho na ako dito sa taiwan.. pero akalain mo ba na hangang dito gunpla parin ang mapag kakaabalahan ko.. naisip ko na kontra home sick kaya nag collect ulit ako..

      i agree, magandang pampalipas ng oras… sobrang di mo mapapansin na ilang oras na dumaan. lalo na pag magaling ka na mag detail….

  5. naka bili na ako ng deathscythe hell kanina at may nakita akong mg shenlong.. maganda ba yun sa tingin mo or wait na lang ako baka magkaroon ng mg altron..

  7. Ako naman, I really was a toy collector since birth na yata. Kasi my Grandfather and Grandmother from states kahit ano pabili ko binibili nila. Paboritong apo ika nga, tapos may pinsan pa ako na American na mahilig din sa mga toys, as in yung buong room nya puno. I was 6 year old then. First I was in hooked in Transformers, Macross, Voltes V at iba pang robot toys. That was in 1986. Pero di ko pa alam mga Gundam noon. Now the part where na introduced ako sa mga Gundams, I have a friend that collect the same toys like me. Halos naman kami nag ko collect ng toys ng mga friends ko kaso itong isang friend ko may kino collect sya na ina assemble nya, sabi ko ano yan? Gundam..sabi nya..eh that time uso na sa local TV channel ang “Gundam G” pero di ko p alam na may toys na ina assemble by your own. Sabi ko bakit hiwa hiwalay? Kasi nga ikaw ang mag a assemble sabi nya sakin, edi the next day pinuntahan ko sya. Wow! buo na si Gundam..at poseable pa sya kahit anong gusto mo i pose….as in na wow ako!!! Kaya sabi ko sa kanya, next time na may sale isama nya ako. So yun nga sinama nya ko..the year is 1997..I bought my first Gundam C90 (sa manga yon, di lumabas sa TV) 1/100 scale. Na buo ko sya ng 3 days. hahahahaha!! Imagine ang tagal, tapos nung nabuo ko super tuwa ko dahil sa tagal…nag la lock pa nga ako sa room ko nun kasi ayaw ko ma istorbo sa mga kapatid ko na kasing likot ni “DIDI” (Im the only son..all my siblings are girls). Kaya yon, ngayon ang misis ko naiinis pag bumibili lagi ako ng model kit na Gundams…sabi ko sa kanya kasalanan ni ano ito kasi sa super addicted ko sa Gundams..ni sticker binibili ko, posters, sd gundams, bottle caps, key chains, t shirts at kahit kasing liit yata ng karayom na gundam toy bibilhin ko. Pero ngayon stick na ako sa 1/100 dahil I have 2 kids and raising them is hard, lalo na high school na yung isa ko. So tight sa budget, minsan nga pati allowance ko na gagastos ko para bumli ng Gundam. Sometimes tinatago ko pa sa cabinet ko para di makita ni misis, at pag nakita nya na ina assemble ko na, sabi ko sa kanya…”ah ito? matagal na sa line up ko ito..di ko lang sya inasembol agad 🙂 ” lusot! hahahaha!!! Kaya hayan, lalo na naman ako na inspired dahil sa inyo..hayyyyyy!!!! Siguro pag may arthritis na kamay doon ako titigil…manga 85 years old. lol!!!

  8. Buti nalang nakita ko web site mo. By accident nga lang kasi nag search ako sa Google yung contest sa Toy Kingdom tapos nakita ko yung site mo, balak ko nga sumali. Madami dami na rin pala Pinoy na na a adik sa Gundam, lalo na tayo… alam ko madalang nalang ang mga model kit builders. Ano punta ba kayo sa Toy Con this coming June 18 and 19…Ako pang 7th ko na ito.

  9. Last year dami din buyers ng Gundam kits, nagtataka din ako kasi merong mukhang di pa teen ager bumibili na ng kits as in yung hindi beginners kits ha. That’s a good sign hehehehe!!

Well my story of why I become an Gundam addict started when I was 7 yrs old well my father bought me 1/144 Wing Gundam  that was my 1st Gundam then the rest was history the Gundams I remember having was the Wing Gundam,Heavyarms,Versago,leopard,some SD kit’s I forgot the names of the SD’s ah HG Ex-S,1/144 Dendrobium Stamen,V2 Assult(Sadly fake and lost the instructions) but I know I have more than 20+ kits already and I stop for 8 yrs

     Then Summer 2011 I started collecting again because I saw my old collection and that triggered me to buy and Assemble again Gundam the recent ones I bought are MG V-dash Gundam Ver Ka(Sadly some of the parts are  loose/defective) then a Beginning 30,Wing Zero Custom HG,1/100 NG Virtue(transforms to Nadleeh too),1/60 NG Wing Zero,HG Destiny(with Wings of Light),MG God Gundam,1/60 PG Wing Zero Custom  my 1st PG (an Original but not yet Assembled),1/100 NG Infinite Justice,1/550 HG Mechanics Dendrobium,my latest an MG Hi Nu(Not yet Assembled)
     and 1 not related to Gundam a HG LM Eva-01 test type(Not Yet Assembled)

    but will buy more recently thinking of buying a MG Exia Trans Am,MG Strike Freedom,MG Destiny,MG Force Impulse,MG Epyon or a Rebuild the Evangelion vr Eva-00,01 or 02

    so maybe I will think first before buying again hehe xD

    1. Nice…me too I collect other like EVANGELION, MACROSS, TF, and other robot model kits…but more on GUNDAMS and anime figures.

  13. My very first kit was an HG forbidden gundam(I didn’t know its name before) about 8 years ago. I lost a part and never been able to build it properly(a ring that connects the body to the waist). Recently, I saw my friend’s MG gundam destiny and I remembered my old kit. I remembered how fun it was building my first kit that I wanted to build one again. I started a month ago with a HG zaku 2 with big gun, bought it for 2400 (I didn’t know the prices then) and got addicted since. I now have a mg 7 sword, mg rx 78 ver 3, mg unicorn, mg wing custom zero, and unbuilt mg sazabi ver. ka and mg ext-s. I have a few more ordered and learning to paint kits. It’s a very fun hobby, but taxing on the wallet. 🙂

  14. Medyo mahaba’ng post. Sorry po. tl;dr GunPla is one hell of a drug

    Bata pa lang, back in the 90’s, adik na sa GunPla. First kit was a 1/144 Zoloat, and it just grew from there. I still remember the ones I got back then and in order; Zoloat, Tallgeese, Master, God, Devil and X, lahat puro 1/144, bili sa Toy Kingdom at SM syempre. Mahirap lang, haha. Tapos nadiskubre ang mga bootleg; 35 pesos? Para sa Hydra? Lang hiya! Ang mura! BUY BUY BUY. Nauubos lahat ng allowance ko sa GunPla.

    Tapos kinailangan namin ni inay na lumipat overseas, to Aus. Very long hiatus, it’s not readily available here, especially considering the prices. Bago lang kami ng nanay ko dito, nakikipagsapalaran. There’s the occasional 10 dollar kits from Toy World when Wing was being aired, but between 2000 and 2009, only ever really had the chance to build less than ten kits (1/144 Wing Zero, 1/144 Heavy Arms Kai, 1/144 Shenlong, 1/100 Sword Strike and SD Ryubi (pareho pasalubong galing sa pinsan ko pag nasa business trip).

    Then 2010 came along. Nakakuha ng trabaho as a panadero. Nag apply ng credit card. Sa wakas, my first MG. Got it from Rainbow Ten. Wing Zero Custom. It was the best thing ever. Tapos Zeta 2.0, Hyaku Shiki HD Color, Aile Strike. Ayan nanaman po! Oh, MG Hi-Nu and Ex-S? Kaya yan! EMS! Tapos nagsara and mail order ng R10. Gutted. Fair amount of time again, no GunPla. Umalis sa trabaho dahil wala’ng kwenta ang boss. Balik sa pagaaral.

    2013 came, nakaswerte. Naipasok sa isa sa top three loss adjusting companies in the world. Awesome pay. Una kong binili sa first paycheck? The car I’ve always wanted. Couldnt be happier. Until someone pointed out that all the JP based hobby shops are now offering the 20% off that R10 used to do on Bandai kits. Sa loob ng one year, I’ve purchased all the RG’s, 20+ MG’s, 4 PGs, Robot Damashii’s, LBX, Armored Cores, etc. Niretool ang isang kwarto para gawing display room. The amount of plastic in that one room is ridiculous (have a fair bit of LEGO as well).

    It’s just a hobby that I will never tire of. It’s part of me.
